The Ministry of Health has issued a statement on what has been published about refusal to dispense medicine to a patient suffering from cancer and is being treated at the Ibn Sina Hospital.
The hospital management said the patient arrived at the hospital with his sister last Thursday and the medicine was dispensed as per the description mentioned in the patient’s e-file based on controls that govern the dispensing of medications, reports Al-Rai daily.
The hospital added, one of the medicines require a special prescription from the attending physician, since it has some side effects and moreover the cancer drugs are not dispensed through Ibn Sina Hospital.
Contrary to what was mentioned in the circulating video clip, the head of the medical staff in the hospital met the patient and his sister and the issued was discussed.
However, the Ministry appreciates adherence to the specific controls for the dispensing of medicines, calling for truthfulness and accuracy before publishing any news reports.
