MOH issues circular to limit treatment abroad only for emergency cases

The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Mustafa Reda, has issued an administrative circular that limits the meetings of specialized committees for treatment abroad to general hospitals and specialized centers. The circular will take effect from next Sunday and will be in place for a period of one month. It applies to emergency and urgent cases where the treatment team determines that treatment is not available in any of the Ministry of Health facilities.

The circular states that the head of the department will need to submit a request, along with a detailed report, to the head of the medical staff and the director of the hospital for an urgent specialized committee to be conducted for the case. After that, the request will be forwarded to the Supreme Committee in the treatment abroad administration.

This new measure aims to ensure that specialized committees for treatment abroad are conducted in a regulated and organized manner, to provide the best possible care to patients in need of emergency and urgent treatment. The circular stresses the importance of following the necessary procedures and protocols, in order to maintain the quality of care provided to patients.

This move by the Ministry of Health comes as part of its ongoing efforts to improve the quality of healthcare services in the country and provide access to necessary treatment for all citizens and residents.
