MOH inks deal with GIC for benefit of retirees hoding “Afiya” card

Within the framework of the keenness of the Ministry of Health to offer maximum benefit for retired citizens who hold the “Afiya” insurance policy, the ministry has reached an agreement with the Gulf Insurance Company to cover emergency treatment for retirees outside the country in cases of emergency; thanks to the initiative of the Minister of Health, Dr. Khaled Al-Saeed.

The ministry explained that the supplementary insurance coverage for the treatment of these cases is free of charge and will not cost any extra money for the State Treasury.

The Ministry of Health indicated that the period of this coverage is for a full year, starting from next October 15, and worth $35,000 for each retiree.

The contract covers all countries except war zones. The cover also includes the expenses of emergency treatment in case of infection with the Covid-19 virus, and cases of evacuation, medical, as well as the transfer of the body in the event of death of patient, God forbid.

The document can be submitted when requesting a Schengen visa to avail of the facility.

The Ministry of Health valued the efforts of the Gulf Insurance Company implementing the “Afiya” program, and their continuous cooperation, which is in the interest of the insurance beneficiary.
