MOE requires 450 nurses to conduct coronavirus checks in schools

Around 450 nurses are needed for conducting medical checks on students for the coronavirus during entering and exiting from the school premises on a daily basis, reported a local daily. This is part of the plan for opening schools at the secondary stage as part of the return to normalcy strategy.

Once schools return to full operations in August, each school will need three nurses in addition to thermal and medical devices. And a lack of these tools to handle the coronavirus threat, poses a health risk to students. If just one case is discovered in the school, it will lead to panic and fear among the parents and the students.

Statistics reveal that the number of students is close to 80,000 with the total number of teachers at 14,711 male and female. The number of members in the administrative body in secondary schools is 3,303 employees, and that the services employees in secondary schools reach 1,084 employees.

The total number of secondary schools is about 150 secondary schools and the number of classrooms in secondary schools is 3,456. According to the daily, the biggest challenges facing schools is not just examining students before they enter the school, but upholding social distancing norms and the importance of identifying any infections that might be spread from the family or in the case of students coming into contact with infected people, as well as teachers and workers. There also a requirement for setting up protection procedures and dealing with students with medical conditions inside the schools.
