MOE announces September 10 as start of school year 2023/2024

The Ministry of Education has approved the academic calendar for the year 2023/2024. According to the decision made by Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education Osama Al-Sultan, the school year will begin on 10 September 2023, for all school staff in various academic levels, including technical mentors for various fields of study, Al Jarida reported.

Al Sultan said that first grade students will start classes on 17 September, while the rest of the elementary, middle and secondary classes will begin on 18 September, provided that the start of attendance for children in the Riyadh stage will be on the 20th of the same month. He specified that the mid-year vacation will start on 21 January 2024 until 1 February 2024, provided that work starts in the second semester, 4 February.

The official added that the end-of-semester exams for the intermediate and transfer classes at the secondary semester will start from 17 December, with the exams for twelfth grade students on 3-15 January 2024. On the other hand, the end-of-semester exams for the intermediate and transfer classes in the secondary semester will start from 15 May, while the end-of-year exams for the twelfth grade students will be from 29 May to 10 June. The exam results will be announced on the 12th of June, provided that the second round of exams for twelfth grade students is scheduled on 1-11 July.

Al Sultan pointed out that the summer vacation for the educational and administrative bodies in the kindergarten level will start from 6 June 2024, and for the elementary, intermediate and secondary levels, except for those assigned to take high school exams, will start from 1 July 2024. In addition, the summer vacation will end on 5 September 2024, and school staff will begin work on 8 September 2024.
