Moderna vaccine will arrive in March

The first shipments of the “Moderna” vaccine will arrive in the country in March, one of the vaccines approved vaccines in the country, which includes “Pfizer”, “AstraZeneca – Oxford” and “Johnson” & Johnson.

Health sources told Al-Rai, the contract between the Ministry of Health, and the manufacturer, was carried out directly without the presence of an agent, based on the recommendation of the Vaccine Selection Committee after obtaining the approvals of the regulatory authorities.

As for the reason for the delay in the arrival of this vaccine, the sources explained that this is due to the ministry’s consideration of the temporal coordination factor for the arrival of doses during specific periods, which prevents the accumulation of vaccines that may go waste due to expiry of date.

The contract includes the replacement clause in case of expiry and the postponement of payments, according to the dates specified by the Ministry, and that the price of the dose includes the cost of delivery to the stores.

The sources confirmed that the contract price is similar to the price of the company’s contracts with many countries, and may be lower, explaining that “Moderna” is one of the approved vaccines in the country, to provide the booster dose through the Ministry platform, in addition to the “Pfizer” and “Oxford” vaccines.
