MoC to restructure, to develop, support and operate an advanced automated system

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry is working during the current fiscal year on 8 vital projects aimed at tightening its control over 4 main sectors — catering, auctions, gold and money exchange activities, in addition to updating precautionary measures in the face of disasters and protecting its data.

At the top of the ministry’s projects this year is a project to develop the work and procedures of the food dispensing system, through a smart network with all relevant authorities to ensure the validity of all data by relying on government data sources.

The sources stated that the ministry will maintain, restructure, develop, support and operate an advanced automated system that relies on the latest technology and international best practices, in order to simplify the system of commodity inventory procedures and the disbursement of food supplies, support the work of employees and beneficiaries remotely, and ensure the validity of all data by relying on data sources through a smart network of interconnection with all relevant authorities, and granting the beneficiaries of the systems a full ability to complete all transactions “online” without the need to review the ministry, which achieves the concept of smart e-government correctly and effectively and enhances the required control tools.

The ministry is also gearing up to equip the disaster recovery center, by contracting with one of the specialized and qualified companies that provide the service of providing disaster recovery centers in accordance with the best international standards and practices to ensure that all the ministry’s systems, services and databases operate efficiently and effectively and ensure that they are not interrupted or disrupted when any potential disasters occur by providing the necessary complementary services such as operating, maintaining and displacing information and data between the various work environments of the Ministry, in addition to preparing the data center for the Ministry by contracting with one of the specialized and qualified companies that provide the service of providing and renting a data center and main control rooms in accordance with the best international standards and practices.

On the other hand, the Ministry aims to maintain and restructure the software of corporate systems and commercial licenses by contracting with one of the specialized companies to maintain, develop and update the licensing systems affiliated to the corporate sector and commercial licenses departments in line with legal and procedural changes and in line with the Ministry’s technical orientations in terms of updating the worker and developing electronic services.

Within the framework of its control operations on the precious metals sectors and exchange activities, the Ministry of Commerce is working during the current year on a project to strengthen the control and follow-up of the procedures for selling and trading precious metals through an advanced automated system that relies on modern electronic services to manage and control the operations of buying, selling and trading in precious metals and gemstones in companies and gold shops in Kuwait, in addition to monitoring automated payment operations, auditing and following up on the implementation of regulations and decisions in this regard, protecting customers, linking with relevant authorities to protect consumers and enhancing the fight against money laundering and terrorist financing crimes.

This is in addition to another project related to automated billing for licenses for money exchange activities, which will audit, monitor and follow up procedures for trading, selling and converting currencies, providing the necessary protection for customers, following up on the activities of buying, selling and exchanging currencies, in addition a project for establishing a national electronic auction platform, which is a sophisticated automated system, and electronic services that manage and monitor all auctions and electronic auctions in Kuwait, in addition to monitoring the operations of automated payment “Online” and follow-up on the implementation of regulations and decisions in this regard, protecting customers, linking with relevant authorities, and enhancing state revenues.

During the current year, the Ministry of Commerce will contract with one of the companies specialized in providing information systems consultants and qualified technical workers to provide technical support and support the beneficiary to operate and maintain various applications, transfer field expertise to national cadres, and prepare them to manage and supervise applications and networks.
