Ministry waiting for a nod from CSS to implement flexible working hours

The Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy said it is awaiting the completion of the Civil Service Commission comprehensive system programming for the implementation of the proposed flexible working hours system that the Ministry had presented to the CSC some time ago.

The Al-Rai daily has learned, this is an existing issue concerning how to calculate the duration of prior permissions granted to employees on certain occasions. This has become a point of contention with the CSC, preventing the Ministry from rolling out a flexible working system for its over 35,000 employees.

The Ministry had previously informed the CSC about its desire to establish a flexible working hours system. The proposed plan includes one hour flexible flexibility from 7 am to 8 am, with an additional grace period of half an hour.

The sources noted that Ministry officials responsible for implementing the flexible working hours system are under considerable pressure from employees who are eager to benefit from the Ministry’s proposed flexibility.

It’s important to emphasize that the Ministry is determined to expedite the adoption of flexible working hours, but the delay is primarily attributed to the programming challenges faced by the CSC.

In other developments, insider information indicates that the Ministry has signed a 5-year contract with an international consultant to provide the Ministry with internal consulting engineering services for water sector projects.
