The Ministry of Electricity and Water is gearing up to secure electricity for the food security projects in the Wafra and Abdali agricultural areas, an Arab daily reported. The Assistant Undersecretary for Electricity Transmission Networks at the Ministry of Electricity and Water, Mutlaq Abu Raqba, said in a letter addressed to the municipality that the ministry is preparing to issue tenders for building major electricity transmission stations, in addition to the ground cables and their overhead lines in the Wafra and Abdali agricultural areas of the Public Authority for Agriculture Affairs and Fish Resources.
The official added that the ministry will secure electric power in these projects to implement the recommendations of the Council of Ministers, while noting that the locations of the main electricity transmission stations had been received in advance from the Authority.
Abu Raqba called for ministry approval to specify the paths for the underground cables and overhead lines necessary to feed these stations so that tenders can be issued and implemented as soon as possible. MEW’s water projects sector had previously been allocated by the municipality to the Authority, especially in the Wafra and Abdali agricultural areas.
