The Ministry of Communications kickstarted the development of the landline telephone network by converting it from copper network to high-speed fiber-optic network, in order to improve the quality of telephone and internet services.

According to the report of a local daily, the project is a continuation of the contract to replace the old system with a modern and advanced one for the fiber system, in which the service has been suspended since 2005. The work has been completed in Al-Bida area in cooperation with the Kuwaiti company Nokia Solo Chains and Networks, as well as the technical team of the ministry’s engineers.

Furthermore, the report revealed that coordination is under way to start modernizing the rest of the other regions based on the contract signed last May which will cover two years.
