Ministry takes legal action against 38 violating media outlets on electoral coverage

The Ministry of Information referred 38 media outlets to the Public Prosecution for violating the terms and conditions of the media coverage, advertising and promotion of the 2022 national elections, an Arab daily reported.

Assigned Assistant Undersecretary for the Press, Publishing and Publications Sector at the Ministry of Information, Lafi Al-Subaie, said that the step was taken to implement the Ministerial Decision 2016/143 and added in a press statement that the ministry took legal measures, in coordination with the Ministry of Interior, against a production company that filmed in front of the Elections Affairs Department in the residential Shuwaikh area without obtaining a written permit and approval from concerned authorities to film in front of the administration, stressing that the ministry will not allow any behavior that would distort democratic labor practices.

He explained that the ministry is monitoring round-the-clock the veracity of the digital, visual, audio and print media in the coverage and broadcasting of the elections to ensure that they observe the provisions of relevant laws, regulations and decisions that guarantee the proper coverage of the 2022 national elections.
