The General Directorate of Traffic issued new guidelines for taxi companies, which included eight regulations, stressing that drivers who violate these set of rules will face appropriate measures. The General Administration of Relations and Security Media at the Ministry of Interior stated that the new rules are in accordance with the framework of the Supreme Security Command to improve taxi services in a way that guarantees passengers’ and drivers’ safety, as well as, facilitate road traffic.

The guidelines include attaching the driver’s license in Arabic and English behind both sides of the driver’s seat; attaching the company’s information and the driver’s phone number; activating the taxi meter; lighting the sign in the absence of passengers; taxis are not allowed to pick up passengers from the street; taxis are not allowed to pick up passengers from Kuwait International Airport; taxis are not allowed to load passengers from highways or main roads; and taxis are permitted to transport passengers only, and not items or food.
