Minister requests security at ports to be enhanced

First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Interior and Acting Minister of Defense Sheikh Talal Al-Khaled stressed on the need to tighten security of the ports to protect the country, pointing out that the ports reflect the civilized face of Kuwait

This came during an inspection tour at the Nuwaiseeb border crossing, to see the rehabilitation and development work that will take place at the crossing starting next July. He was received by a number of security leaders, reports Al-Qabas daily..

He stressed the need to exert maximum efforts by security men and workers to preserve the security of the homeland and the safety of its citizens.

The minister also listened to a detailed explanation from the General Administration of Construction and Maintenance about the development work at the port, which includes increasing the operational capacity, developing roadway for vehicles, individuals, commercial traffic, clearance points for customs and travel procedures, installing X-rays devices to inspect cars and modern systems that help control vehicle paths in addition to external works for buildings, providing places for cafes, restaurants and mobile food carts, giving an opportunity to small entrepreneurs.

He also listened to an explanation from personnel of the General Department of Information Systems about the modern technological systems that will be implemented at the center and the provision of automatic devices to facilitate procedures through automatic reading of travel documents, verifying their authenticity and checking the security features in them to control cases of forgery, and they are matched with the vital features of the traveler by checking fingerprints, face, iris of the eye, and check the lists of local and international prohibited persons before documenting the movement of travel and checking vehicles for security at the land ports.
