Minister Fares responds of parliamentary query

Minister of State for Municipal Affairs and Minister of State for Communications and Information Technology Dr. Rana Al-Fares, in her response to MP Ahmed Al-Shahoumi’s question, that the production of the civil ID stopped during the Corona pandemic for nearly three and a half months (from 12-3-2020 until 2020-6-30), which caused a backlog Civil ID requests at a rate of no less than 10,000 cards per day said this was caused due to the application of health protocols and as in the implementation of Cabinet Resolution No. 767 of 2020 which called for the gradual return to normal life and reduced the employee attendance before returning to the gradual return of work.

Al-Qabas quoting the minister said, the daily production capacity has been hampered as employees returned to work by no more than 30 percent, then 50 percent, then by more than 50 percent, and then 100 percent attendance. This is in addition to a continued application for issuance of Civil IDs which led to an increase in the number of times the card is issued for one individual, in addition to the delay in the procedures for awarding the tender by the competent authorities, and the impact of this on the supply of card forms on time, which led to delays in the supply of issuance materials and raw card forms.
