MEW says production covers our needs

The Ministry of Electricity and Water has reassured citizens and residents that there will be no power outage or systematic power cuts during the coming summer, according to the data of the current situation and the expected consumption.

MEW sources told Al-Qabas daily the coming summer is safe, as the ministry has a production capacity exceeding 18,000 megawatts, while studies indicate that the maximum expected consumption will be around 17,000 megawatts.

The sources indicated that the ministry is currently pushing for the implementation of many energy production and water desalination projects during the coming period to secure the needs in the coming years, in light of the increasing demand for electricity and water.

The sources indicated that the ministry’s officials held a meeting last week with the special advisor in charge of studying summer loads, who in turn presented a report on the upcoming summer loads, including many important short-term and long-term recommendations for the ministry to implement in order to avoid any interruptions.
