Messengers unavailable following non-renewal of contracts

Messengers were not visible in the Ministry of Social Affairs, and the Ministries Complex, which used to be crowded with messengers going about their daily tasks. This absence was due to the ministry deciding not to renew the contract with the company that provides the employees on its conclusion after it came to be known that the ccompany had been irregular with payment of the salaries of its employees for six months,  Al-Jarida reported.

The daily said, quoting informed sources, that the ministry signed a contract with a new company for messengers temporarily for a period of two months or until the new tender is awarded – about 350 out of 1,600 messengers are assigned in all sectors of the ministry.

Most of the employees are assigned in the Social Care Sector to serve the administrations of the welfare complexes for the elderly and juveniles, family nursery, social development and family care units in the Development Sector, said the daily.  The ministry’s departments located in the Ministries Complex will not be able to benefit from the temporary hire, and there is a tendency not to allow messengers within these departments even after the new tender is established and the contract is finalized with the winning company.

The daily said, quoting sources, the ministry is striving to reduce expenditures and limit unnecessary spending, especially after its fiscal 2020-2021 budget was reduced by some millions of dinars, in line with the directives of the Ministry of Finance and decisions of the Council of Ministers in this regard.
