The Fatwa and Legislation Department confirmed the continuation of the membership of the member of the municipal council accused of a bribery case, and awaiting the outcome of the final verdict in the case restricted to Fintas felonies.
In a letter addressed to the municipal council, the “fatwa” considered that it is inadmissible to consider the person whose condition is being presented as having resigned from the municipal council if he is absent for more than five consecutive sessions due to his pretrial detention pending the case, given that the interruption in this case is beyond his control, reports Al-Qabas daily.
It confirmed the eligibility of the exhibited case to attend the meetings of the Municipal Council and its committees, and to exercise all of its mandated powers, in the event that he was released during the investigations, or after their completion pending his submission to trial.
