In what is seen as unprecedented in terms of medical achievements, a medical team at Sabah Al-Ahmad Heart Center, including cardiologist Dr. Nader Issa Al-Asousi and senior cardiologist Dr. Ahmed Saeed Taha, performed a catheter aortic valve replacement (TAVI) on a 101-year-old patient.

Al-Asousi confirmed in a press statement that what happened was an unprecedented achievement not in terms of the complexity of the operation or the advanced age of the patient, but to perform a valve replacement without using a dye to maintain kidney function, which also represents an unprecedented medical procedure, indicating that it is done in such cases.

Al-Asousi pointed out the operation took about an hour, amid meticulous medical procedures, given the circumstances of the case and its very complex challenges. Where the medical team made efforts worthy of appreciation and commendation, explaining that the patient has recovered, and he is in a good and stable condition currently.
