Maurya Kala Parisar to relaunch annual Food Festival

Maurya Kala Parisar, Kuwait (MKP), a cultural and social association of people in Kuwait from the Indian states of Bihar and Jharkhand, is back with the first event of the year for the community, with the 7th edition of the annual Food Festival, scheduled to be held on 6 May.

The immensely popular event, which had to be postponed in the year 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, is an important itinerary on the event calendar of the Indian community in Kuwait. A highlight of the food festival is a home-cooked food competition and the various stalls where visitors can enjoy popular dishes, as well as ethnic wear and accessories from the region. This year the event is slated to be held on Friday, 6 May at the Aspire Indian International School, located on Street 100, Block 1 Abbasiya School Complex from 1pm onwards.

The food festival provides an opportunity to showcase one’s talent in cooking and presenting delicious homemade food. The ethnic Food Competition will be held in four categories (Vegetarian, Non-Vegetarian, Dessert, Fusion/Innovation) and will be judged by connoisseurs and chefs whose decisions will be final and respected. Evaluation will be on the criteria of taste, presentation and regional ethnicity.

Each category in the competition will have amazing prizes and every participant will be recognized and honored with certificates. There is no entry fee and competition is open for the Indian community, including both members and non-members. One person can submit entries for a maximum of two categories. This year there will also be a special prize for Eid dishes. The food has to be prepared and cooked at home and only the final decoration and presentation can be done at the event site.

In addition to the competitive section, various fun activities will be conducted during the event for visitors who can attend for free and enjoy as well as win fabulous prizes at the event. The event also has a talent show for kids that will allow them to display their creativity.

Last date for sending entries for the home-made food competition, and for the talent show is 30 April, by email to mauryakala@gmail.com and/or mobile numbers: 66849023, 97235707, 55015540, 66443900
