Kuwait University is still in a legal dispute with the new Abdullah Al-Salem University, as the law stipulates that the Kuwait University will hand over all its buildings to the Abdullah Al-Salem University City in the event it is vacated, but the latter adheres to the subordination of the Marine Science Center, which is located in the Fintas area, being a part of a scientific program at the College of Sciences, and the Kuwait University believes that the center is not subject to surrender for this reason.
Reliable sources told a local Arabic daily that the Abdullah Al-Salem University remains committed that the Kuwait University relinquishing the Center for Marine Sciences, but Kuwait University has clarified the reason for its adherence to this center overlooking the sea in the Fintas area, as it is one of the pillars and requirements of a scientific program in the College of Sciences and cannot in any way waive this right.
The sources added that Kuwait University has submitted a memorandum to the Minister of Education, Higher Education and Scientific Research to resolve the dispute over this vital and important building for Kuwait University.
The sources pointed to “the importance of amending decision-making mechanisms to solve the issue through some laws between state agencies so that the parties can work and assume their responsibilities.
