A helicopter carrying Indian business tycoon M.A. Yusuff Ali, his wife, and two other passengers along with two pilots, made an emergency landing in Kochi, Kerala, on Sunday morning.
Yusuff Ali, chairman and managing director of UAE-based Lulu Group International, was in the private helicopter that belly-landed in a swamp at Panagad near the Kerala University of Fisheries and Oceanic Studies, according to media reports.
V Nandakumar, director, marketing and communications at Lulu Group International, said in an official statement that Yusuff Ali M.A. is currently in Kerala and was on a short trip from his home in Kochi to visit a relative at a nearby hospital.
Due to the sudden deterioration of the weather conditions and heavy rains, the experienced pilots decided to make a precautionary landing at a safe place to prevent any risk to the life of the passengers or the public at large.
Nandakumar affirmed that all passengers and crew underwent necessary medical checkups and are safe.
