President Michel Aoun of Lebanon in a statement expressed his deep pain on the sad demise of the late Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah. The Lebanese President praised the late Amir on serving his country, its people, and the brotherly Arab states and their causes, and was an example of chivalry, moderation and wisdom.
He added, “Lebanon is losing, in the demise of Sheikh Sabah, a big brother who stood by the Lebanese in the difficult circumstances they went through during the past years. He spared no effort for the sake of Lebanon’s stability, unity and sovereignty, as he was always quick to support the Lebanese people. We will never forget how the late Amir’s contributions helped rebuild many of our cities and villages that were destroyed. Moreover, the late Amir was a strong voice in regional and international forums in defense of Arab rights in general and just causes, foremost among which is the Palestinian issue.”
President Aoun concluded by adding: “I along with the Lebanese people mourn the loss of a loving and dear brother whose absence constitutes a great loss. I offer the Kuwaiti Deputy Amir and Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and the Kuwaiti brothers my deepest condolences and prayers for mercy on the soul of the late Amir.
