Lebanese Embassy mourns death of Al-Husseini

The Lebanese embassy in Kuwait opened a book of condolences for two days following the death of the former Lebanese Speaker of Parliament, Hussein Ahmed Al-Husseini, as dozens of heads of diplomatic missions visited the embassy to offer their condolences.

Chargé d’Affairs at the Lebanese Embassy, Ahmed Arafa, said Al-Husseini was instrumental in the signing of the Taif Agreement during the Lebanese crisis at the time, and recalled the role of His Highness, the late Amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad, who at that time headed the six-party committee that led to the aforementioned Taif Agreement, with the Arab brothers, reports Al-Qabas daily.

He praised the role of Kuwait’s leadership, government and people for its continuous support to its sister Lebanon and standing by it in all circumstances, considering that Kuwait is proactive in providing humanitarian aid to the brothers.

The late Al-Husseini was one of the first to condemn the brutal Iraqi invasion, calling “the Iraqi invasion that Kuwait was subjected to in 1990 violated all the rules of Arab-Arab relations.”
