Kuwaiti woman convicted of real-estate fraud returned to face prison sentence

A Kuwaiti woman convicted of real-estate fraud wherein she deceived more than 50 citizens into buying properties in Europe was apprehended and extradited to Kuwait by INTERPOL, Al- Seyassah daily said. The citizen fled to Europe where she was residing before travelling to a Gulf country. INTERPOL in coordination with authorities in the Gulf country arrested her, and made arrangements for the extradition.

The daily reported the Criminal Investigation Department had received a number of complaints from citizens against the Kuwaiti woman for duping them in a real-estate fraud scheme before escaping and being unreachable. Investigations proceeded, and a description of the accused was circulated to the INTERPOL. The Criminal Court had sentenced the Kuwaiti woman and her partner, who is still at large, to seven-year imprisonment with hard labor, and imposed a fine of about KD 70 million in December.
