Kuwait to order 44 drilling rigs to expand oil production activity

Responsible oil sources revealed to Arabic media that the Kuwait Oil Company requested the supply of 44 drilling rigs from specialized international companies for a period of 5 years.

The Kuwait Oil Company proposed for the supply of 24 oil drilling rigs of 2000 and 1500 horsepower, and 20 smaller drilling rigs of 750 horsepower.

The KOC sources stated, according to a local Arabic daily, May 30 is the last date for receiving financial bids from specific companies pre-qualified to participate in the tender, while a preliminary meeting will be held on March 16 to respond to contractors’ inquiries, and March 21 will be the last date to respond to inquiries.

The oil sources said the demand for drilling rigs coincides with the directions of the Kuwait Oil Company to increase the production capacity of crude oil and gas in the near future, in preparation for the gradual production of 3.2 million barrels per day — sustainable production capacity for crude oil in 2025, and up to 3.55 million barrels of oil per day, with calculating the production of the area divided between Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.
