Kuwait to host Gulf 26 soccer tournament in December 2024

The President of the Arab Gulf Cup Football Federation, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, announced that the next edition of the Gulf Cup Championship “Gulf 26” will be held in Kuwait at the end of 2024, while the Sultanate of Oman will host the 27th edition.

This came on the sidelines of the general conference of the heads of the Gulf Cup federations, which was held in the Iraqi city of Basra, which is currently hosting the 25th edition.

Hamad bin Khalifa indicated that this date was announced so that it does not conflict with the Asian Cup finals and will help in the success of the next tournament.

He also pledged to work on behalf of the Arab Gulf Cup Federation to provide facilities for the Iraqi public to attend the upcoming tournaments, after achieving great success in the success of the Gulf 25.

He explained, “We promise you that the main teams will participate in the next versions, and that the participation of non-main teams in the Gulf 25 was known, and its reasons are related to the Qatar World Cup 2022.”

He added, “Kuwait’s candidacy as an alternative to host the next edition, and before that, the ‘Gulf 25’ as an alternative came with a government letter of guarantee in accordance with the requirements of hosting the Gulf Cup, and we appreciate the government’s support for hosting such sporting events.”

He stressed that the Arab Gulf Cup Federation does not choose the country organizing the tournament except after obtaining government guarantees for the organization, and that the Kuwaiti government always fulfills its obligations and commitments.

He stressed that Kuwait is ready to host the tournament, and coordination will be made with the responsible government agencies regarding the organizing arrangements.
