Kuwait sends 110,000 tons of relief material to Sudan aboard 11 flights

The government of Kuwait has dispatched to the Sudan one hundred and ten tons of relief materials aboard eleven flights and Sunday another flight is expected to leave for the country loaded with shelter materials.

In this regard, the Sudanese Ambassador to Kuwait, HE Awad Al-Karim AL-Rih Belah Moussa, praised the humanitarian support that Kuwait provides to everyone in times of disasters and crises, calling it one of the first countries to rush to help its friends and brothers.

The Sudanese ambassador told Al-Qabas daily that Kuwait is a friendly country for peoples and governments, pointing out that this continuous giving earned the former Amir of Kuwait, the late Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad, the title of Amir of Humanity, “What Kuwait offers stems from the values, customs and traditions of Kuwaiti society,” he added.

He also praised Kuwait’s rapid response to support his country, pointing out that immediately after the outbreak of the crisis, “we communicated with the concerned authorities in Kuwait and conveyed our assessment of the matter at the political, field and humanitarian levels, and the response on the humanitarian level was immediate, as the Kuwait Red Crescent was mobilized and it was agreed to establish a humanitarian bridge to send medicines, medical supplies, food and shelter materials.

He also expressed regret that the rebels continue to violate the international agreements, specifically the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, revealing that the Sudanese army is working despite the complex circumstances to secure diplomatic missions, hinting that these countries know that the Sudanese army is not the one that committed these heinous acts.

He referred to coordination and communication with the Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs to enhance cooperation with charity and voluntary associations and foundations in Kuwait and pointed out that there is a great desire from Kuwait to support Sudan with medical supplies, shelter and food, noting that the Kuwaiti air bridge flights to support Sudan were the first aid that arrived in Port Sudan.

On how to face difficulties to ensure that aid reaches its beneficiaries, he said, “The Sudanese army is one of the trained armies and has experience and a long history in cases of steadfastness or movement, which was reflected in the procedures for securing the evacuation of foreign nationals, indicating that the army leadership, the Ministry of Health and the Sudanese Red Crescent have been coordinating It is closely affiliated with the Kuwaiti Red Crescent to ensure that aid reaches its beneficiaries.

The ambassador announced the embassy’s intention to launch a donation campaign for Sudanese residents in Kuwait, in coordination with the Kuwait Red Crescent Society, after the approval of the cincerned authorities.
