Kuwait registers a patent in dentistry

In a new scientific achievement, the Kuwait University registered a patent in the US Patent Office of the US Department of Commerce, in the field of dentistry.

The professor of the Department of Dentistry, Dr. Fawaz Al-Zoubi said in a statement yesterday that the invention highlights the use of a modern technology to copy the composition of the gingival tissue before the final manufacture of the teeth, using a multi-purpose prototype printed with 3D technology, reports Al-Qabas daily.

Al-Zoubi explained that the invention facilitates the process of communicating with dental laboratories, as they enable them to obtain an ideal result for the sunken surface, and highlight the lateral appearance of the artificial teeth, indicating that this will contribute to improving the workflow, and obtaining better results for treatment through the accuracy of the multiple features represented in the splint. Including tissue composition.

Meanwhile, the Assistant Vice Chancellor for External Research Cooperation and Consultations, Dr. Haneen Al-Ghabra said this patent is the first to be obtained after applying the Fast Track service, and aims to reduce the time for patent examination by examiners at the US Patent and Trademark Office.

The period becomes from six months to a year instead of one to three years.
