Kuwait PM: Solving Palestine question key to Mideast stability

Representative of His Highness the Amir, His Highness the Prime Minister of Kuwait Sheikh Jaber Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah said the Palestine question remains to be a central issue for the Arab and Muslim worlds.

Delivering Kuwait address to the 74th UN General Assembly on Wednesday, His Highness Sheikh Jaber said, “If this question continues to be unsolved, it will deepen the tensions instability in the Middle East region.” “Therefore, we urge relaunching the (Palestinian-Israeli) peace talks within a specific time frame,” he stressed.

“The need that the substantive peace talks must ensure reaching fair and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution, the outcomes of the previous rounds of talks, the relevant UN resolutions and the Arab peace initiative of 2002.

“The negotiations must culminate into ending the Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territories and establishing the independent state of Palestine within the pre-June 1967 and with East Jerusalem as its capital city,” he went on.

His Highness Sheikh Jaber highlighted the need of ending the Israeli aggressions on holy sites and illegal Jewish settlement expansions on the occupied Palestinian territories, warning against any unilateral attempts to imposed fait accompli in this regard.
