Kuwait National Library hosts Italian concert by ‘Quartetto Indaco’

The Italian Embassy in Kuwait, in collaboration with the Kuwait National Library, held an Italian musical concert by ‘Quartetto Indaco’ (Indigo Quartet) on 11 December at the Kuwait National Library Theater.

The concert, which was part of celebrations marking the 60th anniversary of Italian-Kuwait relations , was the first concert by the renowned ‘Quartetto Indaco’ in Kuwait.

The ceremony was attended by Italian Ambassador H.E. Carlo Baldocci and a number of members of the diplomatic corps in Kuwait, along with the classical music lovers in the country.

The program started off with Christiana Turchetti, wife of the Italian ambassador, presenting the members of the ‘Quartetto Indaco’ to the audience. beginning with Eleonora Matsuno on violin,  Ida di Vita, also on violin, Jamiang Santi, viola and Cosimo Carovani, cello. In her speech, Mrs. Turchetti thanked the Director-General of Kuwait National Library, Sheikha Rasha Nayef Al-Jaber for her support and cooperation in organizing the event.

The concert included a number of classic music tracks, which focused on the string instruments used in this kind of music, and the band played pieces by great composers such as Boccherini, an Italian author of the classical era, who was known as the Violoncellist, and his pieces were famous for their expressive cheerful melodies. The band also played tracks of Italian composer Nino Rota, who received the Oscars award for the best soundtrack, and also the Italian Opera composer Giacomo Puccini, who lived between the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the twentieth century.

The performance of the ‘Quartetto Indaco’ group was characterized by harmony and was a journey of beautiful feelings and sensations that highlighted the group’s professionalism and its diversity in the musical methods, which impressed the audience who were attracted to Italian music. The ‘Quartetto Indaco’ group, which was founded in 2007, has participated in several international festivals and events and won many awards.They issued their first album in 2020.

On the sidelines of the event, Ambassador Baldocci said: “We are celebrating the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the Italian-Kuwait extraordinary friendship”. He explained that the week-long celebrations include several other events, including the opening of the ‘Islamic Art from the Bargello of Florence to Kuwait’, at the Amricani Cultural Center and the also the exhibition ‘Italy and the Urban Planning in Kuwait’ at the Italian embassy.
