Kuwait Municipality wins KD 25 mln in a property violation case

The Court issued a ruling to compensate Kuwait Municipality with approximately KD 25 million for violations of property by a Hotel in Salmiya, reports Al-Anba daily.

The property exceeded 2,519 square meters by area of their granted license. The court has fined the defendant KD 10 thousand for each extra square meter, which is considered one of the largest fines ordered by the local court.

According to a source from Kuwait Municipality, there are more of such cases pending before the court. It is likely that new rulings will be issued in the Municipality’s interest to remove violations and receive compensation.

The recent ruling of the Court came as a result of the efforts exerted by the committee formed by the Director-General of Kuwait Municipality Ahmad Al-Manfouhi to follow up the cases of building violations and ensure the collection of the state’s rights.
