Kuwait Municipality to initiate a qualitative shift in new cleaning contracts

Deputy Director General of Kuwait Municipality for the services sector, Mishal Al-Azmi, announced the inclusion of all cleaning departments in the governorate branches into the services sector within the new municipal structure, stressing that through follow-up and auditing of contracts, it was revealed that there are sites suffering from defects and permanent problems, such as agricultural holdings, farms, and chalets.

Al-Azmi told Al-Rai newspaper that the municipality’s cleaning committee team is developing ideas and solutions for future cleaning contracts, especially since one of the ideas that he carries is to change the entire cleaning methodology to work with artificial intelligence, adding that part of the municipality’s plan to change this methodology is to monitor companies, and placed surveillance cameras on all vehicles to ensure their compliance and not negligence in their work, announcing that the municipality will bring about a qualitative shift in the new cleaning contracts.

He stated that “the municipality’s role in the areas of farms and chalets is only supervisory, and does not provide a cleaning service.

Also, removing waste from commercial and industrial areas is obligatory for owners of companies and shops, and garage owners must contract with a specialized company to remove waste.”

He revealed that “the municipality has a plan to develop the human element in the field of hygiene, especially inspectors, to be trained on how to deal with violations and the laws and regulations in force in the municipality, in addition to new hygiene contracts and methods of managing them.”

He pointed out the possibility of implementing the idea of placing garbage containers underground, as in European countries, pointing out that “one company has presented a visual presentation in this regard, and this idea will be in commercial, industrial, and craft areas, and will not be in private or typical residential areas.”
