Kuwait intensifies efforts to complete recreational, state projects

The government calls for the immediate completion of Failaka Park, Entertainment City, Air Cargo City and Wafra Agricultural Park. After his oath-taking ceremony on Tuesday, Prime Minister His Highness Sheikh Ahmed Al-Nawaf urged continuous work to attain the goals and reach highest achievements.

In a cabinet meeting held on Monday, a set of executive decisions was put forward to accelerate the completion of existing projects or launch pending ones. The Council reviewed His Highness the Prime Minister’s proposal to relocate a memorial site bearing the names of Kuwait’s martyrs, referring to it as a matter of urgency to the ministerial committee supervising follow-up of the implementation of major projects and raising the appropriate recommendation.

Moreover, the Council assigned the Minister of Finance and the Minister of State for Economic Affairs and Investment the responsibility of supervising the follow-up of the implementation of the Failaka Tourism Park Development Project as soon as possible and taking appropriate steps to overcome any obstacles that might arise.

He also stressed the need to proceed with the implementation of the Entertainment City project, assigning the Minister of Finance to take measures to implement the decision as quickly as possible with private sector partners. In addition, the Council of Ministers assigned the Agriculture Authority to take the necessary measures to implement the recreational cultural park project in the agricultural area of Wafra.

The Council also instructed the General Administration of Civil Aviation to take the necessary measures to ensure the implementation of the “Air Cargo City Project at Kuwait International Airport” and to take everything that would reduce its documentary cycle and shorten the timetable of the executive plan to reach the stage of completion as soon as possible. The formation of the “Supreme National Committee for Strengthening the Food and Water Security System” was likewise approved.

Sources told the Arabic papers that the parliament did not discuss scheduling the poll and opening the door for candidacy for the upcoming National Assembly elections. It was also confirmed that the Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Minister of State for National Assembly Affairs, Issa Al-Kandari, has not filed his resignation.
