Kuwait has reportedly increased security around vital installations and taken necessary measures to safeguard the country’s security, in the wake of attacks on Saudi oil facilities on Saturday, said Acting Interior Minister, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs, Anas Al-Saleh following a meeting with His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.
According to the Kuwait Cabinet spokesperson, the security forces have apprised the prime minister of the current security situation in the country, following attacks on two plants in the heartland of Saudi Arabia’s oil industry.
US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo had accused Iran of being behind the attack without providing any proof; Iran has denied the accusation. On the other hand, the Iran-aligned Houthi rebel group in Yemen has claimed responsibility for the attacks, which have cut Saudi oil output roughly in half.
Saudi Arabia and Iran back opposing factions across the Middle East, from Yemen and Syria to Lebanon and Iraq.
