The Ministry of Health has reassured the public that Kuwait is safe from cholera, pointing out that poverty, conflict, and the mixing of drinking water with sewage are among the causes of the spread and outbreak of cholera, and Kuwait is free of all of this.
A local Arabic daily stressed on the importance of preventive measures for maintaining personal hygiene and payng attention to food and clean water, which are among the most important measures that must be taken.
The health sources emphasized the continuous and direct coordination, communication and cooperation with the World Health Organization in this regard.
The sources stated that one of the symptoms of cholera is acute and severe diarrhea, as a result of eating unclean (spoiled) food and drinking impure water.
The sources stressed that Kuwait has developed an integrated plan to prevent the intrusion of cholera into the country, based on the rapid detection, isolation and treatment of cases, and the identification of those who come in contact with this malady and conducting tests on them.
