KUC discusses termination of contracts of retirees

The Kuwait University Council, led by Acting Director Dr. Fayez Al-Dhafiri, held discussions regarding the termination of contracts for retirees who had been contributing their expertise to the university, both Kuwaiti and non-Kuwaiti, in accordance with decisions taken by the Council of Ministers.

The council also addressed the implementation of executive measures for the Scopus database of scientific journals and proposed amendments to the regulation of intellectual property and patents at the University, reports Al-Rai daily.

In addition to these matters, the council reviewed the Medical Sciences Center’s proposal for rules governing the transfer of students between the faculties of dentistry and pharmacy. Furthermore, the council approved promotions for certain faculty members and extended the assignments of some cultural attachés.

Regarding language testing, the council considered aligning the IELTS test scores with the scores for the English language proficiency test, following a clear guideline.

The Deanship of Admission and Registration shared the timetable for registration, withdrawal, and course additions for the first semester of 2023-2024.

The registration process began Tuesday and will continue until Saturday, September 23, 2023. This plan aims to accommodate over 41,000 male and female students, and the deanship will analyze all the offered courses during the registration period, ensuring additional seats are made available to meet the needs of both graduate and continuing students by introducing new courses and increasing capacity.

The General Secretariat of the Council of Private Universities announced a change in the registration date for the internal scholarship plan intended for high school students. The application period for those interested in joining the internal scholarship plan will now run from August 2 to August 13, 2023.
