KOC to open two collection centers in mid-2023

MEED magazine revealed that Kuwait Oil Company’s initial engineering and design work in two assembly centers in eastern Kuwait has been completed by 90 percent. The projects are expected to be launched in mid-2023, reported a local daily, adding that the tender is scheduled for implementation in accordance with the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) system. The scope of the first project includes the installation of a new facility, called the Assembly and Separation Center 1 (SGC-I) and the water injection station (WIP-I), while the scope of the second project includes the installation of a new facility called the Assembly and Separation Center 3 (SGC-III) and the water injection station (WIP-III).

On the other hand, MEED stated that the Kuwait National Petroleum Company has tendered two contracts for the maintenance of the Mina Abdullah refinery, expecting the value of the mechanical contract to range between 50 and 80 million US dollars. In addition, as per the documents published by the Central Agency for Public Tenders in Kuwait, the first contract relates to mechanical maintenance services at the Mina Abdullah refinery, as the value of the initial guarantee for the project is one million dinars (USD 3.2 million).

The source pointed out that the size of the initial insurance indicates that this contract should be of a higher value than similar contracts that were recently offered. MEED quoted a source that this is understood as a five-year maintenance contract, as the deadline for bidding on this contract has been set on 17 January 2023. A pre-bid meeting is scheduled for 28 December. Meanwhile, the second contract is related to the maintenance of electrical systems and fire systems in the Mina Abdullah refinery, and it is expected that its value will be less and that it will have a guarantee of 220 thousand dinars (717 thousand US dollars), which will be valid for 90 days.

The deadline for submitting a bid for this contract is on 22 January 2023, and a pre-bid meeting is scheduled for 3 January. The Mina Abdullah refinery in Kuwait has been repaired as part of the 16 billion US dollar clean fuel project.
