KFAS to organize third ‘Kuwait-IMEC’ symposium with global participation

The Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences announced that it will organize, on October 3 and 4, the third ‘Kuwait – IMEC’ symposium under the title ‘Digital Transformation and Energy Transformation… Simultaneous Steps to Advance Our Societies’, in partnership with “EnergyVille” and with the participation of a group of international experts.

KFAS told Al-Rai daily that, “The symposium will focus on the topic of digital transformation in addition to exploring the radical transformations occurring in our societies due to simultaneous progress in the fields of digital technologies and the shift towards sustainable energy systems.”

The foundation had funded 3 phases of the advanced research program for photovoltaic cells made of crystalline silicon, which is a cooperative program between Kuwait University and the IMEC Institute in partnership with EnergyVille.

It is noteworthy that the foundation organized the first Kuwait-IMEC symposium on October 12, 2016 under the title ‘Exploring Technology for a Sustainable Future’, where it discussed applications of microelectronics technology in a number of vital fields and future research and development activities that achieve the concept of sustainability and the field of investment in it.

The foundation also organized the second symposium on April 17 and 18, 2018, under the title ‘Energy, Information and Communications Technology – A Basic Combination for Sustainable Energy Systems’, with the participation of experts from Kuwait, the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, and international researchers.

It is worth noting that the Microelectronics Center (IMEC) is an active international research and development center in the field of nanoelectronics and digital technologies. Its headquarters is located in the Belgian city of Leuven, and it cooperates with the largest research networks in the world through research centers in Europe, Asia, and the United States of America.
