KD 961.5 million spent on social protection for citizens in 11 months

Official data revealed that during the last 11 months, from April 2020 to February 2021 the government’s spending on social protection for citizens has reached KD 961.5 million. Out of which KD 22 million are for social protection from unemployment and KD103.56 million was spent on sickness and disability, Al-Rai reported.

According to the figures reviewed by the daily, spending on social protection from the budget of government ministries and departments amounted to KD 321.5 million in the first 11 months of the year (2020-2021), with a spending rate of 65.5 percent.

Government spending on the heirs came at 45 percent of the appropriations amounting to KD 2.28 million out of KD 5.06 million, and the average spending on families and children was 56.6 percent, including KD 7.49 million out of appropriations estimated at 13.25 million dinars.

The average government spending on social protection in terms of housing was about 42 percent, with a value of KD 26.63 million out of about KD 149 million approved.
