Kazakhstan National Day celebrated with reception

On the occasion of the 28th anniversary of Kazakhstan’s Independence Day, the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Kuwait H.E. Daulet Yemberdiyev hosted a reception at the Salwa Sabah Al-Ahmad Ballroom, in Salmiya on 15 December. Deputy Foreign Minister Khaled Al-Jarallah was the chief guest on the occasion. Members of the diplomatic corps, Kuwaiti officials, special invitees, and media personnel attended the event.

In his address to the gathering, the Ambassador Yemberdiyev said, “Kazakhstan is a country with a rich historical and cultural past. Located in the center of Eurasia, Kazakhstan has long been at the intersection of ancient world civilizations, as well as at cross road of the main transport arteries.”

“Over the years since independence, thanks to the policy of the leader of our nation, the First President Nursultan Nazarbayev, Kazakhstan has turned into a state with a fast-developing stable economy and democratic foundations. During his tenure, the volume of GDP grew 18 times, household incomes increased nine times, and the poverty level was reduced 10 times,” said the ambassador.

Highlighting the ‘open skies’ agreement between Kazakhstan and Kuwait, Ambassador Yemberdiyev noted, “Under the scheme, designated airlines of Kuwait and  Kazakhstan can operate 14 scheduled passenger flights per week and unlimited number of cargo flights.”

“Kuwait Airways now has the opportunity to operate regular flights to 11 Kazakhstan airports (Nur-Sultan, Almaty, Shymkent, Aktau, Karaganda, Ust-Kamenogorsk, Pavlodar, Kokshetau, Taraz, Petropavlovsk, Semey) without restrictions,” the ambassador noted.  “As a result of this draft intergovernmental agreement, Kuwait’s Jazeera Airways also plans to start regular flights to Kazakhstan from the summer 2020,” revealed the ambassador.

Kazakhstan is an attractive tourist destination with Almaty, the country’s biggest city boasting of leafy avenues, glossy shopping centers, the chic AlZhiR Museum-Memorial Complex and an upbeat nightlife. For a change of pace, tourists can go hiking in the high mountains and green valleys of the Tian Shan, search for wildlife on the lake-dotted steppe, enjoy homespun hospitality in village guesthouses, or jostle across the western deserts to remote underground mosques.
