Italian Embassy holds reception for Italian Warship “Francesco Morosini”

The Italian Embassy organized a reception to celebrate the visit of the Italian naval ship “Francesco Morosini,” during which Undersecretary of the Ministry of Defense, Sheikh Dr. Abdullah Meshaal Al-Sabah, praised the Kuwaiti-Italian alliance, further emphasizing that the Kuwaiti army remains vigilant through self-arming and strategic partnerships with friendly countries.

He highlighted the nation’s commitment to secure its maritime borders in accordance with the United Nations Charter and sovereignty principles.

Brigadier Khaled Hassan Al-Kandari, the Commander of the floating units, emphasized on the joint defense cooperation with Italy. Al-Kandari revealed Kuwait’s intent to purchase ships and naval boats to bolster the maritime system. Stressing the importance of modern technology and competitive pricing, he noted that collaboration includes sharing insights and requirements for mutual benefit. Around 25 Kuwaiti officers proficient in Italian have graduated from the Italian Academy.

Then, Italian Ambassador, H.E Carlo Balducci expressed gratitude for Kuwait’s hospitality during the visit of the Italian Navy ship “Francesco Morosini.” He commended the bilateral ties between the two friendly countries that span beyond various fields, encompassing technology, culture, and trade. He emphasized the ship’s significance as a symbol of Italy’s naval prowess, citing its operational versatility for military and civil defense missions.

Further extending gratitude to the crew’s dedication, acknowledging their professionalism and sacrifices for their country’s service. He affirmed both nations’ shared commitment to addressing global challenges through cooperation and partnership. The reception highlighted the enduring and comprehensive bond between Kuwait and Italy, grounded in mutual respect and common goals.

Lastly Balducci stated that the ship represents the pride of Italy and its navy. It is a modern designed ship that includes the latest technology and has high operational flexibility that can perform a variety of missions with such as patrols, logistical transport and combat, as well as civil defense.
