Interior Ministry in no mood to tolerate reckless behavior on New Year Eve; 850 patrols pressed into service

The Ministry of Interior is preparing to take deterrent measures on the New Year’s Eve, through a comprehensive plan that includes pressing into service 850 patrols affiliated to the emergency, traffic and public security sectors, in various regions, to deal with any violating behavior.

The Ministry’s Assistant Undersecretary for Operations and Traffic Sector, Major General Jamal Al-Sayegh, said in a statement to Al-Rai that the ministry has the ability to deal with all reports, and has completed all security preparations to protect citizens and residents and arrest outlaws.

Al-Sayegh pointed out that “one of the most important vital sites in which the security presence will be intensified are the chalets, farms, stables, desert areas and camps, to deter any illegal behavior contrary to public morals, in addition to the security presence in some vital sites including shopping centers and malls.

Regarding dealing with the rainy situation in the country, Al-Sayegh explained that “we have a complete plan to deal with reports, accidents and reckless drivers.

This will be done by receiving reports, following up on the security situation, and monitoring roads through the control room and the operating room, to follow up on any traffic jam or accidents, or recklessness, and “we have the ability to arrest anyone who violates the rules and regulations, or who disturbs the people and closes roads, and the violators will be dealt with firmly, as their vehicles will be impounded.

“We will not tolerate violations that threaten the lives of road users,” Al-Sayegh added.
