Nazaha refers a Major-General and Colonel to the Public Prosecution in ‘Eurofighter’ case

The Kuwaiti Anti-Corruption Authority (Nazaha) has referred two army officers — a major-general and a colonel — to the Public Prosecution for causing grave damage to public money, the crime punishable under Article No. (14) of Law No. 1 of 1993 of the Public Funds Protection.

Nazaha said in a press statement to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), Monday, that this is a continuation of its efforts to combat corruption and ward off its dangers, reports Al-Rai Arabic daily.

It stated that special observations made by the concerned authority in the Eurofighter contract revealed several violations that caused serious damage to public money that exceeded the total value agreed upon in the main contract.

The sources added changes in the contract were initiated without prior permission from the concerned authorities in the ministries of Defense and Finance and without a documentary approval which affected the payment schedule allocated to the aforementioned contract.

Nazaha affirmed its determination to continue its efforts and procedures to examine the collected evidence and investigate all serious communications it receives while appreciating the role of the whistleblower in assisting the authority to obtain the necessary information and data on corruption incidents, and at the same time, it is committed to providing the utmost levels of protection and confidentiality necessary for them.

The sources noted the role of the Ministry of Defense and the General Staff of the Kuwaiti army in reporting suspected corruption crimes and their absolute cooperation in providing all data and documents
