Indian Embassy launches COVID-19 Vaccine Awareness Campaign

An event to launch the COVID-19 vaccine awareness campaign and to conduct a Roundtable on COVID Plus was organized by the Embassy of India in Kuwait, in association with the Indian Doctors’ Forum (IDF), Kuwait on 31 May 2021.

Ambassador of India H E Sibi George inaugurated the event with his inaugural address. During his address, Ambassador spoke about India-Kuwait friendship and collective action against COVID-19 summarized the initiative of the Embassy to convey the message on the importance of COVID-19 vaccination to every one of the Indian nationals in Kuwait urged everyone to follow expert medical opinion in this regard.

Ambassador, accompanied by Dr. Amir Ahmed, President of IDF Kuwait, and other doctors of IDF Kuwait, officially released an informative booklet comprising crisp yet comprehensive messages from Indian doctors on COVID-19 in 14 different languages.

Ambassador launched a video message campaign on COVID-19. The video campaign features short audio/video messages from Ambassador and Indian doctors on the subject of COVID-19. The objective of the print and the video messaging campaign is to dispel any misinformation/myth related to COVID-19 and convey a message from medical professionals to the Indian Community in Kuwait in their own mother tongues.

The Vaccine Awareness Campaign launch was followed by the roundtable discussion on COVID-Plus featuring specialist Indian medical doctors working at reputed healthcare institutions in Kuwait. The discussion was expertly moderated by Dr. Ramesh Pandita, the Consultant Hematologist at Kuwait Cancer Control Centre. Other members of the esteemed panel included: Dr. Usha Rajaram, Consultant Neonatologist, Jahra Hospital; Dr. Alexander Varkey, Consultant Internist, Sabah Hospital; Dr. Abraham Varghese, Consultant Oncologist, KCCC; Dr. Mohan Ram, Specialist Hematologist, KCCC; Dr. Ananthapriya Vaidya, Senior Registrar, and Gynecologist, Ministry of Health; and Dr. Roy Thamby, Senior Registrar, Infectious Disease Hospital.

The discussion generated tremendous response with hundreds of people from different walks of life in Kuwait participating virtually. The roundtable provided a unique opportunity for participants to listen to expert healthcare professionals providing much-needed insights on the evolving developments related to the ongoing pandemic, learning about the actual risk factors, and getting expert advice on the precautions needed.
