India said on Saturday that there were 384 deaths due to COVID-19 and 18,552 fresh coronavirus cases in the country in the last 24 hours.
The Indianآ Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said in its latest report that the total number of positive cases in the country rose to 508,953 with 18,552 fresh infections and the death toll rose to 15,685 with 384 new deaths.
The ministry said that there are 197,387 active cases and 295,881 people recovered. Maharashtra, Delhi, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu and Gujarat are considered the worst affected Indian states in wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Indian government had decided to extend the lockdown in containment zones while giving key relaxations in the less affected areas.
However, many state governments are unwilling to extend the lockdown as it has already made normal life and economic activities in jeopardy.
