Indian authorities said on Friday that one-day deaths due to COVID-19 in the country were 336 cases while the number of fresh positive cases jumped to 13,586.
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said in its latest update that the total death toll due to COVID-19 pandemic in the country rose to 12,573 while COVID-19 cases in the country since the outbreak of deadly disease stood at 38,0532. There are 163,248 active cases while 204,711 people recovered so far.
The Indian government had announced its decision to extend the lockdown in containment zones while giving key relaxations in the less affected areas.
However, many state governments are unwilling to extend the lockdown as it has already made normal life and economic activities in jeopardy.
