India’s repatriation endeavor, Vande Bharat Mission (VBM), which aims to reach out and repatriate “every stranded and distressed Indian citizen around the world,” will widen the mission’s geographic reach, with the sixth phase that began on 1 September, said the country’s civil aviation minister Hardeep Singh Puri.
More flights and more destinations in phase six, which runs from September 1 to October 24, will allow more Indians to return to the country from abroad, said the minister in a tweet. While India has not resumed operations of international commercial flights due to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, it has initiated bilateral arrangements through travel bubbles with many countries around the world, including countries in the Middle-East.
Under the new schedule, Air India along with Indigo Airlines will operate 81 flights from Kuwait to various Indian destinations. Bookings for these flights can be done through the airlines’ websites, booking offices and authorized travel agents.
Of the total flights planned out of Kuwait in September, Air India will operate 10 services while Indigo will operate 71 flights. Destinations in India and number of flights are: Ahmedabad (5), Bengaluru (3), Chennai (5), Jaipur (11), Kannur (4), Kochi (13), Kozhikode (15), Lucknow (10), Mumbai (1), Trichy (4), and Trivandrum (10).
