ICS, Mughal Mahal, to present ‘Shukran, A musical tribute – Utsav ‘22’

Indian Cultural Society (ICS) in association with Mughal Mahal Group will be presenting an evening of musical extravaganza titled, ‘Shukran – A musical tribute Utsav ‘22’. The event, featuring Indian playback singers Pratibha Singh Baghel and Prithvi Gandharv, will be held at the Dr. Kamil Al-Rays Auditorium, American International School in Hawally on Friday, 27 May at 7pm.

Shukran is a concept designed by ICS and Mughal Mahal to thank the often forgotten frontline warriors in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, in particular the cleaners, porters, ward staff, ambulance drivers, lab-technicians, pharmacists, para-medical staff, and the police, in addition to the well recognized assistance provided by doctors and nurses during the entire health crisis.

ICS is celebrating the 75th anniversary of India’s independence, 60th anniversary of Indo-Kuwait relations and the 16th anniversary of the Indian Cultural Society in Kuwait, with this musical evening.

Chief guest at the event will be the Ambassador of India H.E. Sibi George, who for two years since his arrival in the country has been leading the community’s fight against the pandemic, and has been a constant supporter and motivator of ICS.

Pratibha Singh Baghel, the young singer who has gained a lot of fame and social media recognition for her talent, is extremely passionate about acting as well. She has collaborated with multiple reputed and renowned brands.

More recently she was the playback singer for the historical movie, Manikarnika, based on the legendary warrior queen Jhansi Ki Rani and starring Kangana Ranaut Ms. Baghel won recognition for her playback scores in the movie, especially for her songs ‘Rajaji’ and ‘Tak Taki’.

She has also lent her voice to many other hit Bollywood movies, including Issaq, Bollywood Diaries, Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhaniya, Zid, Bellbottom, Adhure lafz, Shorgul, Sand Ki Aankh and Baba Ramsaa Peer. She won the ‘Lata Mangeshkar Alankaran Award’ in 2008. The National Classical Vocal award remains one of her most acknowledged awards.

Pratibha Singh will be accompanied by playback and ghazal singer Prithvi Gandharv, a young talent who has rapidly gained popularity across India. He has been a part of many famous albums and songs, and as the playback singer in several movies, including major hit movies Bajirao Mastani, Sarbjit and others. He has also been the composer and singer in the biopic of Anna Hazare, and has sung under such great labels such as Saregama, T-series, Zee Music Company and many more.

Urdu Poetry is a genre in which he has excelled in rendering, giving him an opportunity to compose a ghazal for Ustad Rashid Khan, titled ‘Jazbaa’ and be an integral part of the ghazal festival ‘Khazan 2018’. On the social media platform, many YouTube labels like Kukki Originals, Sufi Score, and Bazm-e-Khas and others have recorded additional ghazals from this soulful singer.
