Hiccups seen in coverage of ‘Zain League’

Upon securing the broadcasting rights for the Kuwaiti Football League matches, known as the “Zain League,” Shasha has made efforts to engage a group of directors and commentators from the Ministry of Information, signing contracts with them for activities outside their regular working hours. However, the Ministry’s actions have caused disruption in this endeavor.

This development follows Shasha’s official acquisition of the Kuwaiti League broadcasting rights last Wednesday. In a bid to swiftly commence League coverage, Shasha approached the Ministry of Information. Unfortunately, the Ministry declined to accept the official documents, reports Al-Qabas daily.

Despite the understanding that broadcasting the League to Kuwaiti sports enthusiasts is a collective responsibility, the anticipation was that the process of hiring local directors would be streamlined.

Regrettably, the technical teams and directors withdrew their involvement due to the unexpected stance of the Ministry. Technical personnel received indications that covering matches without the ministry’s consent would lead to accountability.

In response to the Ministry of Information’s actions, Kuwaiti directors and technical staff withdrew just moments before the commencement of matches. This occurred despite Shasha having already reached agreements with them.
