As part of the electronic transformation , the General Traffic Department (GTD) seeks to benefit from the ‘My Identity’ or create a similar application to download driving licenses and car registration books for the benefit of citizens and residents.
The Al-Rai learned from security sources the GTD wants to digitalize car registration and driving licences after the success of the ‘My Identity’ which is being used by all government and private institutions to complete transactions.
The GTD said the digital transformation will help citizens and residents to escape direct citations and paying fines when they forget to carry driver’s licenses and civil ID in the wallet.
The sources said as part of the development process in the GTD the police patrols will also be provided with advanced technical devices to issue citations which will be sent immediately to the electronic violations system and the violator will be notified immediately through a text message the value and time of the violation, to help both parties — the GTD and the violator — to protect their rights.
